Privacy

What we ask for, why we ask, where it is kept and who can see it. In plain words, because a policy nobody reads protects nobody.

What we collect

Only what is needed to take an order to a door:

  • Your name, so the counter knows who the order belongs to.
  • Your WhatsApp number, because that is how the shop confirms an order, sends the bill and asks for payment. It is the whole conversation.
  • Your delivery addresses, so somebody can bring it to you.
  • Your preferred counter — Bareja or Shela — so the right kitchen sees the order.
  • Age range and gender, which are optional and used only to understand who the shop is serving. Leave them blank and nothing changes about your order.
  • Your orders, and any bill or payment screenshot attached to them.

Signing in

You can sign in with Google, with your email address, or with your WhatsApp number. Whichever you choose, we never see, receive or store a password — there isn't one. Google confirms who you are and tells us your email address; the other two send you a code or a link to prove the address or number is yours.

An account holds at most one email address and one phone number, and those are what identify you — the way you proved them is not a separate account. If you would rather not sign in at all, you can ring either counter and order over the phone.

Where it is kept

In Google Firebase, on servers in Mumbai. Not on the shop's own machines, not on a laptop, and not in a spreadsheet.

Who can see it

This is enforced by the database itself, not by which buttons we chose to draw:

  • You see your own orders and nobody else's.
  • The branch manager sees orders, so the shop can fulfil them.
  • A delivery rider sees only the order actually in their hands. Not the shop's order book, not past orders, and nothing once the delivery is done.

Another customer cannot read your order, your address or your payment screenshot, even knowing its exact address. That rule is tested on every change to this site.

How you found us

When somebody shares a link to this shop — a reel, a video, a post — that link can carry a short word saying who shared it, and your browser tells us which site you clicked it from. We keep that word, the name of the site that linked here, and the date, so that we know which orders came from whose recommendation and can thank or pay the right person.

We keep the name of the site only — instagram.com, not the page you were reading or anything you searched for. It is stored in your own browser, attached to an order if you place one, and forgotten after thirty days. It is not shared with anyone, including the person who shared the link: they are told how many orders came from them, never who placed them.

Nothing about this follows you to other websites, and there is no profile of you anywhere. If you would rather we did not keep it, clearing this site's data in your browser removes it, and the contact page reaches a person who can delete it from an order.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your details, or share them with anybody for advertising.
  • We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics on this site. The one thing we do count — which recommendation an order came from — is described above, is written by this site alone, and is never sent to anybody else.
  • We do not take card or bank details anywhere on this site. There is no payment gateway — payment is arranged directly with the counter.

WhatsApp

Order confirmations, bills and delivery codes are sent over WhatsApp through a messaging provider. Your number and the text of those messages pass through them to reach you. WhatsApp's own handling of your messages is governed by WhatsApp.

Your rights over your own data

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to:

  • Show you what we hold about you, and who we have shared it with.
  • Correct anything that is wrong, incomplete or out of date.
  • Erase it, where we are not required to keep it. Orders already placed stay in the shop's books, as any shop's receipts do.
  • Hear a complaint about how we have handled it.
  • Nominate somebody to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to.

Ask on either counter's number — they are on the contact page, with the timings we hold ourselves to.

Agreeing, and changing your mind

When you save your details to place an order, you agree to this policy and to our terms. We keep a dated record of when you first agreed and when you last agreed — the dates are set by our server, not by your device, so the record means something.

If we change this policy in any way that matters, we will ask you again the next time you order. You can withdraw your agreement by asking us to erase your details, which is as easy as giving it was.

Keeping and removing

Orders are kept as the shop's record of what it sold. Your profile and saved addresses are kept until you ask for them to be removed. Ask, and they will be — ring the counter or message the number below. An order that has already happened stays in the shop's books, as any shop's receipts do.

Asking us anything

Everything about reaching us — the counters, the grievance officer, and what to do if we let you down — is on the contact page.

Ring either counter, and ask for the manager:

11, Vinayak Complex, opp. Shreeji Baug, Bareja, Gujarat 382425.
